Assistive Technology
Assistive technology is the term applied to the use of a wide range of technological devices and adaptations designed to help people with disabilities and their carers in their everyday lives. Sometimes technological aids can assist carers in dealing with everyday problems such as wandering, safety and general monitoring of levels of activity.
The carers project has identified a number of companies and products which may be of use to people with dementia and their carers.
Inclusion of companies and products does not imply a recommendation from the project.
It is important to remember that everyone's needs are different and change over time. Some assistive technology is relatively simple and cheap. Other devices are more expensive and carers will need to be sure that the technology will be both useful and cost effective.
Communication Technology to help improve communication.
Alarm Systems A variety of devices which activate alarms.
